The Russian Revolution
The Russian Revolution consisted of two separate revolutions, one that took place in February of 1917, and the other that took place later that year in October. These revolutions radically changed the political system and way of life in early-twentieth-century Russia. After losing control of the country, the former Czar was forced to abdicate in 1917 ending the reign of the Romanov Dynasty who had been ruling Russia for over 300 years. The result of the revolutions was the establishment of the Soviet Union, or the Union of Soviet Socialist Russia (USSR).
